Goodbye Strange, Familiar Friend

You welcomed me with hurt and pain
Wet eyes, dark heart, that's how we met
Strange at first, you entered in
Soft, slow, familiar friend

A year would start with tired eyes
Grabbing hold of any good within
Heavy, wanting, I fed you first
Weaknesses, persuaded right

That girl is strange
But familiar still
Alive in the moment
Gasping in the end

An appetite of tainted bread
Satisfaction is not supposed to ache
Attractive infection became your name
You didn't know I was strong enough

Yesterday I said goodbye
Smiling as you walked away
An awkward fit you were inside
Just a memory of a faded friend
